Member of Parliament, Kate Kniveton, today (25/04/24) visited Barclays new banking hub in Burton following their commercial decision to close the previous High Street branch.

Following the bank’s decision, Ms Kniveton met with staff and senior managers of Barclays to discuss the closure and to ensure that they delivered on their commitment to introduce a replacement face-to-face service.

This was secured and Barclays bank staff have, since 15th April, been based in Meadowside Leisure Centre, High Street, Burton on Trent. The hub is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 09.30am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4.30pm.

Speaking with Hub Manager, David Bruce, staff were keen to highlight to the local MP that they continue to offer to a wide range of services on site including financial reviews, balance requests, opening saving accounts and offering support with digital banking. Other services such as deposits and withdrawals will need to be completed at a local Post Office.

Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:

“I was pleased to visit the staff at the new Barclays Banking Hub today in Burton, following the bank’s commitment to ensure face-to-face financial support for customers remains in our town.

“Bruce and his team highlighted their commitment to continuing to help customers and ensure a good level of services are available on a face-to-face basis. That face-to-face element is so critical, and all banks have a responsibility to customers and wider society in maintaining this principle.”
